Baseball in a Glove on the Infield

Sporting Events in Florida 2017

Sports fans, this one’s for you. If you’re planning a trip to Florida this year, then there are plenty of sporting events you can watch while you’re in the Sunshine State. We recommend booking tickets to avoid disappointment as some events will definitely sell out!

Aim for the hoop

If you’re visiting Florida during winter, you might be lucky enough to catch an NBA basketball game. Miami Heat and Orlando Magic are Florida’s major teams, and you’ll see them try to shoot some hoops against some of the most famous basketball players in the world.

Games will be announced as the schedule is released for 2017-18, so check out Miami Heat and Orlando Magic on the official NBA website for tickets!

Football, the American way

If you truly want to get into the American spirit, watching an American football game is the perfect way to do it, even for those who are new to the sport. The atmosphere is always electric and Florida has three NFL teams – the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars – so you should be able to catch a game while you’re on holiday.

Don’t forget Florida State University

With the stadium holding 83,000 people (that’s only around 10,000 less than Wembley), Florida State University American football games are a big deal. If you can’t make it to an NFL game, a university match is definitely the next best thing. Get ready to unleash your university spirit and cheer on the Florida State Seminoles!

Catch a home run

Baseball is fun for the entire family and there’s no better way to spend a summer’s day than watching a Major League Baseball (MLB) game. You’ll just have to forge your allegiance – will you support the Miami Marlins or the Tampa Bay Rays?

The season officially starts on April 2nd 2017, with games commencing across America until October!

A British favourite

Feel right at home and book tickets to watch a game of soccer or, as we like to call it, good old regular football. Florida’s only Major League Soccer team is Orlando City and you can watch the Lions play in a spectacular brand-new stadium in downtown Orlando! The purple side face New York City FC in their opening game on March 5th 2017.

If you miss out on a ticket, there’s no need to worry! There are many great sports bars around Florida for you to visit! Grab a brew and some tasty food then settle down and watch the action unfold – with the sun shining it’ll almost be as great as the real thing.
