Alternative activities to enjoy in Orlando

Theme parks not included!

You can’t mention Orlando without the thought of a rollercoaster or Mickey Mouse popping into your head. Famous for its collection of world-class theme parks, it’s highly likely that you’ll be visiting a fair few during your trip. But the beautiful city of Orlando has much more to offer than rides and thrills.

Orlando Science Center

Packed with interactive, hands-on exhibits that are continuously changing, the Orlando Science Center provides endless hours of fun for both children and adults. An educational and enjoyable day out, make sure you visit the observatory, the Mindbender Mansion for baffling brainteasers, and check the Science Live! schedule which features a range of live shows kids will love!

Spirit of the Swamp Airboat Rides

Catch a glimpse of crocs and alligators in their natural habitat as you glide across the swamps and marshes on a thrilling airboat. The waters are inundated with wildlife and you’ll spot a huge variety of animals including birds, wild hog and deer on your journey.

Leu Gardens

If you fancy escaping from the hustle and bustle of the busy city, the beautiful grounds of Leu Gardens are a wonderful place to sit back and relax in. The gardens are perfect for a stroll on a sunny day and group tours of the gardens and the Leu House museum are available daily to enhance your visit.

Central Florida Zoo

Open since 1975, Central Florida Zoo is now home to over 500 animals! Children will love feeding the giraffes, catching a glimpse of the unusual fossa and watching the monkeys play in their enclosures.

On the smaller size, the zoo is the perfect size for younger children to visit. Kids can cool off in the fountains and play in water inside the tropical splash ground, while adults can enjoy listening to Keeper Chats on weekends.

Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park

If you love the outdoors and look forward to taking on a challenging aerial adventure, then take on the elevated obstacle course at Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park. The park is a wonderful alternative for thrill-seekers and courses are designed for children, juniors and adults of all abilities.

Zip lines, Tarzan swings, suspended bridges and much more make up the exciting obstacle courses. Booking is advised but not essential.

Many of Orlando’s most enjoyable activities are often overlooked by holiday makers. There are so many hidden gems in Orlando, make sure you slot them in between your visits to Disney and Universal!
