Airport guides

Florida is a large state and there are several airports here to ensure you don’t have to travel for too long once you land in your chosen destination. In this section we’ll take you through each of the major airports, as well as where they’ll take you and what you can find there – giving you all the knowledge you need to make sure your journey is as smooth and as convenient as possible.

There’s a real north-south divide when it comes to the distribution of flight options across the state. The largest concentration of airports is around the Miami area, where you’ll find three international hubs: Miami (the state’s busiest airport), Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood. On the west coast, near Fort Myers, you’ll also find Southwest Florida International, and further up the coast is Tampa International. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Orlando boasts the second-busiest airport, while to the far north, Pensacola and Jacksonville see lower numbers of commercial passengers.

Flights from the UK to Florida land in all the state’s major airports, so you don’t need to worry about being close to your chosen destination. What’s really handy is that flights from Florida can also take you out to the rest of the US, so if you want to start a longer adventure across America, the Sunshine State could be a great place to start – obviously, we reckon you’ll probably not want to leave, but at least the option’s there.

Take a look at our airport guides to learn more about each and every one of them – we’ll tell you where you can go, what there is to do and everything you can expect when you get inside each one.
