Do I need insurance when travelling to the Florida?
Unlike travel in Europe, where there is a reciprocal arrangement for Health cover, this does not exist in the States so you need to check that you have adequate travel insurance for Florida. We have outlined the main considerations you need to make when purchasing your travel insurance.
Are you Fully Covered?
Checking you are fully covered is of the utmost importance. It is vital that you carefully read all insurance documentation before travelling. There are different types of insurance and you need to be sure you have chosen the one relevant to you.
Pre-existing Medical Conditions
Declaring pre-existing medical conditions is vital. If you, or anyone in your party, have a pre-existing medical condition you must ensure that this is declared to the insurance provider. Not declaring such conditions will result in the insurance being null and void and you will be asked to pay for any treatment required, which can be incredibly costly depending.
You will find that your travel insurance will stipulate certain exclusions. These can be related to weather conditions, war or terrorism. Such circumstances are rare. However, if you are travelling to Florida you may plan on undertaking extreme or dangerous sports or activities. These too, could be excluded from your insurance policy. If you think you may indulge in anything resembling that then you need to have a chat with your provider to ensure your travel insurance for Florida is exactly what you need. Or if you would like to upgrade your premium by including certain circumstances into your policy then this should be discussed with your provider.
