International Drive Holidays 2019/2020
If you're travelling to Orlando, make sure you take a trip down the city's main strip, International Drive. Renowned throughout the world as a hub of brilliant attractions, one-of-a-kind retail destinations, dazzling nightlife hotspots and delicious restaurants, it's Florida to a tee.
It's easy to spend a whole day exploring I-Drive. Get up bright and early, then head to one of the many attractions that line the strip. Splash around in one of the many waterparks, get an adrenaline injection on the countless rollercoasters and rides, or play a classic round of mini golf.
That's not forgetting the many malls, designer shops and outlet stores throughout the area (each brilliant for picking up a bargain) and the more adult-orientated attractions that make this more than just a family destination, such as golf courses, gyms and wellness centres.
When you've worked up an appetite, there's loads of delicious restaurants up and down International Drive, but as is often the case in Orlando, you'll find most are big and bold, with lots of shows, comedy acts and dancing on the menu alongside great food.

Things to do on International Drive
Surprising to any newcomer to its 11.1-mile strip, International Drive is home to a dizzying array of attractions, activities and things to see. If you've been lucky enough to visit the Vegas Strip, I-Drive will seem a bit familiar, but forget the casinos – this strip is fun for every family member.
As well as being close to Universal Orlando, International Drive is also home to big attractions such as SeaWorld Orlando and its amazing rollercoasters; the huge, budget-friendly Fun Spot America Theme Park; and the Orlando Eye Ferris Wheel, which gives travellers amazing views out over the Orlando area (see how many rollercoasters you can count!).
Travelling with children? Head to the super-fun kids destinations that dot the strip, including the inflatables and adventure playgrounds at Monkey Joe's, bouncy fun at Outer Limitz Indoor Trampoline Area, and the super-speedy I-Drive NASCAR Kart Racing facility! For a less thrilling but just as entertaining experience, head to Ripley's Believe It or Not museum of oddities, sure to get the whole family's jaws dropping!
For older families and bigger kids, look out for helicopter tours, golf courses (including the one-of-a-kind Gator Golf), waterparks and plenty of interesting escape games to try your hand at.
Where to eat on International Drive
If you're feeling a little hungry after exploring everything Orlando has to offer, International Drive has lots of great restaurants up its sleeve, giving you everything, from home-cooked soul food, to dinner shows, to classic American fayre.
For American classics, head on over to Johnny Rocket's Burgers for patties and sides done right, or enjoy a meaty meal at the all-you-can-eat Texas De Brazil Steakhouse, which combines Brazilian and Texan dining to create something special.
Steaks are also done right at the highly popular Capital Grille, and if you want a taste of the Southern USA, be sure to book a table at BB King Blues Club where you can enjoy buzzing live music as you eat! Over at Tommy Bahama's Tropical Café, you can dine on all sorts of fresh, Caribbean flavours and perfectly put-together cocktails too.
Lovers of all things seafood will love both Seasons 52 and the Oceanaire Seafood Room, while if you're looking for something a little more international, Maggiano's Little Italy and Taverna Opa Orlando serve up Italian and Greek flavours, respectively.
Where to shop on International Drive
Want to grab a deal while you're on holiday? International Drive is the place to do so, being packed with a host of chains, shopping centres and more.
Of these, Pointe Orlando is one of the biggest and best – here you can find restaurants and entertainment venues alongside your fix of retail therapy. In terms of shops, there's a great mix of independent boutiques and well-known brands to choose from, as well as a number of retail experiences you've probably never encountered!
For outlet shopping, head to Vineland Premium Outlet where you can easily bag a bargain to be proud of at one of the huge variety of stores. Chances are, if you've got a brand in mind, there's one of their factory stores at Vineland. For more classic mall fun, a short distance away is the Altamonte Mall, known throughout the area as being the home of brilliant deals and discounts.
There are lots of shops interspersed throughout the area too – whether you're driving or strolling, it's easy to find a bargain along the energetic strip!
Nightlife on International Drive
Fancy a little after-hours excitement? International Drive and its surrounding streets has exactly what you're looking for, whether it's clubs, bars or entertainment shows, and practically every night of the week it's possible to find a pumping party or a more laid-back, intimate place to relax after a day's exploring.
Start off by heading to Universal City Walk, home to a jaw-dropping selection of eateries, stores, clubs and more. Enjoy a night of karaoke with backing singers and a live band, watch live music usually only heard during New Orleans' Mardi Gras, or dance to the latest chart toppers in true nightclub fashion.
Enjoy an authentic British pint and a hearty meal at The Pub, or head to the world's largest permanent ice bar in the world at ICEBAR Orlando, where you'll be happy to know the venue provides you with a thermal coat and pair of gloves on entry!
Then there's 3NINE club at the Rosen Plaza Hotel – great if you want a nightclub experience that's a bit more 80s and 90s throwback compared to your usual club – and Blue Martini, a stylish, cool nightspot that oozes ambience and offers live entertainment too.
